The 1990’s style of Make-up. This glamorous book of make-up’s created by make-up artist Kevyn Aucoin. Not sure if it’s in print anymore! This was the decade of the make up range that included every skin tone. One of them was MAC cosmetics founded by Italian – Canadian Frank Toskan – Casale, his sister Julie Toskan Casale and her husband. I was the first person to interview him in a tiny kitchen just off the Kings Road shot in a tiny studio ran by photographer Mauro Carraro who shot the images and then write up a feature for the Today newspaper.  The newly arrived new concept make-up here in London was about to hit Harvey Nicks!  Big news!!!  Eventually they sold the company to Estee Lauder in the 1990’s.

After selling MAC cosmetics Julie Toskan Casale signed up for a four-week philanthropy workshop at the Rockefeller Foundation, and set up her own foundation  The Toskan Casale Foundation.  Working with teenagers and The Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI)

Philanthropy made a big difference at MAC. The company raised $160 million for AIDS at a time when the disease was very controversial for charities to touch. It was Julie’s idea to use MAC’s popularity to change public attitudes that raised funds for local AIDS organizations. Viva Glam Lipstick when bought by customers every penny/cent is donated to the fight against AIDS.

Lady Gaga is the latest face of Viva Glam.
