A preview of this film at the Soho Hotel 1st Feb ( Last film seen here The Muppet Movie!)  Sadly I didn’t get to see the first showing and I intend too!  I love the NY Times Fashion Style section and subscribe online. I have often used ideas from these pages and incorporated projects around some of the Images and write up’s.

This documentary teaches us that Fashion and Style isn’t dead THANK GOD!   So much feels homogenous nowadays and how BORING that human being’s want to look and sound the same. Maybe it’s because we care too much what people think about us. Better to be individual and follow your heart.  Rather than being a sheep.   It’s like saying all women and men are the same which we know isn’t true.  This documentary beautifully and articulately expresses the beautiful creativity that is still alive in some places of New York.  Colourfully documenting the people rather than that other over rated boring culture of  manufactured Celebrity.   So wonderful to know that people still follow what they truly love.

A new course to add  to the Health department at Morley College. Having contributed to the college for ten years devising and teaching courses.  ”Photography Make-up & Styling Workshop” is different as this course finishes in a weekend workshop working with students from the Fashion and Photography departments. So we will be creating our own shoots. If you know anything about Morley it is one of the most amazing colleges in the country and the Fashion department is now completely refurbished.  I would say students have an amazing resource here.  Courses are great value and offer concessions and I know my students learn a huge amount. As they tell me so!  This course is great for working students.

An amazing Charity lookgoodfeelbetter that helps to support women during treatment and recovery from cancer. Having contributed for over ten years to these very worth while and fun Make-up workshops. I have discovered what it means to the women who come to these soirees in hospitals and health centres. Often for women taking care of our selves helps to improve our self worth and self esteem.  I have heard this many times over. Learning simple skin care and make up techniques do really help in the deeper psycological healing process and the move to full recovery. Many women say to me they wish they knew how to apply make up much earlier in life.

If you can make it to this Carol Concert it is a wonderful experience and raises money for the Charity.   The Church is spectaculor and if you have been affected or know someone who has this evening will be full of meaning and complete understanding. A great place to appreciate the Festival of Christmas it’s carols wine and mince pies!!

Apply for tickets by email to sasha@lgfb.co.uk or telephone 01372 747500 £20 per ticket.

The 1990′s style of Make-up. This glamorous book of make-up’s created by make-up artist Kevyn Aucoin. Not sure if it’s in print anymore! This was the decade of the make up range that included every skin tone. One of them was MAC cosmetics founded by Italian – Canadian Frank Toskan – Casale, his sister Julie Toskan Casale and her husband. I was the first person to interview him in a tiny kitchen just off the Kings Road shot in a tiny studio ran by photographer Mauro Carraro who shot the images and then write up a feature for the Today newspaper.  The newly arrived new concept make-up here in London was about to hit Harvey Nicks!  Big news!!!  Eventually they sold the company to Estee Lauder in the 1990′s.

After selling MAC cosmetics Julie Toskan Casale signed up for a four-week philanthropy workshop at the Rockefeller Foundation, and set up her own foundation  The Toskan Casale Foundation.  Working with teenagers and The Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI)

Philanthropy made a big difference at MAC. The company raised $160 million for AIDS at a time when the disease was very controversial for charities to touch. It was Julie’s idea to use MAC’s popularity to change public attitudes that raised funds for local AIDS organizations. Viva Glam Lipstick when bought by customers every penny/cent is donated to the fight against AIDS.

Lady Gaga is the latest face of Viva Glam.
